Former Vice President Dick Cheney, in exclusive comments provided to The Daily Caller, blasted the Iran nuclear deal, predicting it will “accelerate” the spread of weapons across the globe.

“As expected, this is a very bad deal from the standpoint of the United States and our friends and allies in the region,” Cheney said. “Contrary to what President Obama suggests, this deal will not inhibit the spread of nuclear technology — it will accelerate it.”

“In the wake of this deal, more governments are likely to seek nuclear weapons to defend themselves against Iran,” Cheney added.

The deal would give Iran relief from sanctions in exchange for agreeing to certain limits on its nuclear program. Obama argued Tuesday it will stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon; Republicans beg to differ.

Cheney is expected to talk more about the deal while appearing on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show Tuesday evening.
