Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg said at a press conference Thursday that he would challenge Democrats who have pro-gun positions.

Hogg, who has been the most vocal pro-gun control Parkland survivor, argued that gun control activists must also be willing to go after pro-gun Democrats who are backed by the NRA.

“Yes,” Hogg said when asked if he would challenge a pro-gun Democrat like Pennsylvania’s Conor Lamb. “It’s as simple as this: either you stand with the kids or you stand with the NRA.”

“We’re asking people to put the USA over the NRA,” he continued. “We’ve allowed this to continue for too long…when we allow these lobbyist groups like the NRA and Gun Owners of America and so many others to own our politicians and take our voice, they continue to allow the slaughter of our future and our children.”

“They can buy our politicians but they can’t buy us,” he concluded.

Hogg’s position could indicate a real break with the Democratic Party, as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has been willing to back pro-gun Democrats such as Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar, who has an “A” rating with the NRA.
