Should the FBI investigate the allegations against Brett Kavanaugh? The Daily Caller’s Vince Coglianese and Amber Athey make a resounding case for “No!” on today’s edition of “UnFake The News.”
While the FBI did do Kavanaugh’s background check, the agency technically would’t have jurisdiction over an accusation like Kavanaugh’s accuser is making. Therefore, such a case would have to be taken “to state or local law enforcement,” said Daily Caller Breaking News Editor Amber Athey.
Coglianese and Athey also addressed the difference between the Kavanaugh situation and the FBI’s role in investigating Anita Hill’s accusations against Clarence Thomas — both Hill and Thomas were federal employees. And even then, the FBI interviewed both parties and released a report saying that Hill’s accusations were “not credible.”
“In summary, when you hear the talking heads calling for an FBI investigation, it’s not in the pursuit of information,” said Coglianese.
“It’s in the pursuit of obstruction,” concluded Athey.
