President Donald Trump urged the Senate to stop delaying the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, while reaffirming his claim that Kavanaugh’s accuser deserves her opportunity to speak. Trump made the statement in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Thursday night.

“I think is a sad situation, he’s an outstanding person. And frankly, Sean, to see what is going on is just very, very sad. You say, why didn’t somebody call the FBI 36 years ago? I mean you could also say when did this all happen, what is going on?” Trump stated. “To take a man like this and besmirch — now with that being said, let her have her say and let’s see how it all works out. But I don’t think you can delay it any longer, they’ve delayed a week already.”

He continued, “I have been accommodating. I say let her say what she has to say and let’s see how it all comes out. But they’ve delayed it a week and they have to get on with it.”

Kavanaugh is scheduled to testify again in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday. His accuser, who was invited to do the same, has declined. She is now working with the committee to reportedly testify next Thursday. (RELATED: Report: Kavanaugh Accuser Wants To Testify Next Thursday)

The interview took place in Las Vegas before the president took the podium at a rally for incumbent Republican Senator Dean Heller, who is currently facing a tough reelection battle.
