Former CNN Host Brian Stelter is joining Vanity Fair as a special correspondent to cover Fox News’ trial against Dominion Voting Systems.

Stelter will write a weekly column and host a special version of Vanity Fair’s “Inside the Hive” podcast about the case, CNN’s Oliver Darcy reported. Stelter confirmed the news Monday and teased more details about his temporary role. (RELATED:‘I Think It’s Great’: Brian Stelter Goes At It With Show Host Over Tucker Getting Jan. 6 Footage)

Vanity Fair Editor Michael Calderone expressed his excitement Tuesday about Stelter’s new role with the outlet. “Couldn’t be happier to have @brianstelter aboard to cover the Fox-Dominion trial, alongside @VanityFair’s stellar stable of media and politics reporters,” Calderone tweeted

Stelter departed CNN in Aug. 2022 when his Sunday show, “Reliable Sources,” was canceled as part of new CNN boss Chris Licht’s effort to reduce the network’s partisanship. He became known for frequently criticizing Donald Trump and conservative media. In one instance, he compared the “radicalization” of Trump supporters by the “right-wing media machine” to members of ISIS.

Stelter joined Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center as a Walter Shorenstein Fellow to host lectures about democracy on campus shortly after his television career ended. The Shorenstein Center has worked with media executives at CNN, MSNBC, NBC and Buzzfeed News to “help newsroom leaders fight misinformation and media manipulation” in the news.

He hosted a panel on “disinformation” at the World Economic Forum in January when a European Union official predicted “hate speech” laws would come to America.
