Could we see Patrick Mahomes play professional baseball? … That’s what the Royals want.

Before becoming one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever do it and winning those three beautiful Super Bowl rings on his fingers, Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes was studdin’ it on the baseball field.

In the 2014 MLB Draft, Mahomes was a top prospect. Hell, in his senior year, he had a 16-strikeout no-hitter. The dude balled out. But rather than pursue a baseball career, Mahomes chose football, going on to play for Texas Tech in college.

In the 37th round, Mahomes was drafted by the Detroit Tigers, however, he never inked a deal with them. With that being said, he did play a little baseball in college, playing three games for the Red Raiders in his freshman year. (RELATED: ‘I Don’t Care Who Said It. Recently, Mahomes said that he has “talked to the Royals” about possibly playing for the team during spring training. Mahomes is a minority owner of the franchise.

And as far as the Kansas City Royals themselves, general manager J.J. Picollo said that Mahomes has a spring training invite anytime he wants it.

“We’d love to have him come. He’s welcome anytime,” Picollo told The Kansas City Star. “He’s part owner of the team, he can do whatever he wants.

“It would be great. It’d be fun to have him around. I know that a couple of our guys have relationships with him. But if you wanted to come down, we’d love to have him come down. Problem is, when we’re in spring training, he’s out celebrating Super Bowls. The timing doesn’t always match up. It would be neat, though. It would be neat to have him. We would love that.”

Do it, Pat … I’d love to see this.
