This is pretty damn cool, and I’m no fan of Wemby.

Nike has been in a bit of a slump as of late, and that’s being nice. However, the legendary company has recovered in flying colors with their latest marketing campaign around San Antonio Spurs superstar center Victor Wembanyama, featuring a commercial and an outright fresh logo that’s alien-themed.

When Wemby was originally put on the map in terms of the NBA, a ton of fans compared him to an alien because of his 7-foot-4 height that gives him an extra terrestrial-like frame. That, and also the league has never, ever seen a player like Wembanyama. Now a season in, and with everybody witnessing what he can do on the court, the alien comparisons are at an all-time high. Nobody plays like the 20-year-old, especially at his size. His ability to dominate both offense and defense with ease is … well … out of this world. He’s a friggin’ alien! In a genius move by their marketing department, Nike has completely taken advantage of the angle and launched a brilliant campaign around it.

Recently, the swoosh company dropped their first ad centered around Wemby, revealing his alien logo in the process — and holy hell, they’re both iconic.

Say what you want about Nike and their screw-ups (and there’s been a few recently), but they’re absolutely on point with this one. Plus, who doesn’t like aliens?

“Aliens are real and hoop among us” … so dope.
