Did the same company help Barack Obama win the presidency and the Swiss reject a minimum wage increase?

Blue State Digital, a company that touts itself as being a powerful driver of both of President Obama’s successful presidential campaigns and a promoter of liberal causes, appears to be working for a Swiss group that has been one of the leading opponents of raising the country’s minimum wage.

In April, the Swiss anti-minimum wage organization explained on its website that it chose to use the BSD Took kit because of its successful history of winning campaigns in the States.

“To improve our chances of success, we use for the first time a new online tool from the American company Blue State Digital,” read the website, according to a translation.

It went on to comment about the program’s ability to help win political elections and referendums.

This is a screenshot of a translated version of the website on April 15:

The BSD Tool program operates by combining “a customizable, searchable member database with powerful mass email, reliable donation processing, social networking, event management, personal fundraising, analytics and more,” according to the company’s website,

On its FAQ page, it explains to potential customers that it is better than its competitor, NationBuilder, because of NationBuilder’s connection to the Republican Party.

“NationBulder recently became the exclusive software provider for the Republican State Leadership Committee, the official GOP body charged with electing conservative officials at the state level,” reads the website.

BSD’s name has since gone missing from the Swiss anti-minimum wage group’s website. It now says that it is using Campaigning Bureau — a partner of BSD and also a source from which BSD’s Tool program can be purchased.

In addition the president’s campaigns, the BSD Tool program has been used by such Democrats as California Rep. Henry Waxman, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

BSD has also worked with a number of labor-backed groups promoting liberal causes, including, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s efforts to recall Republican Governor Scott Walker.

And ironically, BSD is the host provider for the U.S.-based RaisetheMinimumWage.com.

BSD did not respond to The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.

Last Sunday, 75 percent of Swiss voters rejected an initiative to raise the minimum wage to $25 an hour — and the new media strategy and technology firm that helped elect President Obama may have had something to do with it.
