E.L. James Answers Readers Demand

As the saying goes, “there are two sides to every story.” At least, that’s what fans of the erotic romance novel “Fifty Shades of Grey” are saying.

Author E.L. James took readers by storm four years ago when she released the novel — a story that depicts the relationship between college graduate Anastasia Steele and businessman Christian Grey. It has sold over 125 million copies and has a film adaptation released in February of this year. It has also received quite a lot of criticism, however, primarily for the “abusive relationship illustrated,” and leaves readers asking questions about Grey’s motives and troubled past.

Well, James is finally answering. She announced Monday via social media she will be publishing a new version of “Fifty Shades of Grey” from Grey’s point of view, titled “Grey.”

“Christian is a complex character,” James said. “And readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place—writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage.”

Readers won’t be waiting for answers long, either. As irony has it, the book will be published on June 18, the same day as Christian’s birthday.
