David Letterman said he thinks Donald Trump is despicable.

In an upcoming interview with NBC,  the 69-year-old former late night host was asked if he wishes he was on air so he could discuss the current presidential election, according to Entertainment Weekly. (RELATED: You’re Going To Want To Watch David Letterman’s Last Opening Monologue [VIDEO])

“Well, I understand that he’s [Trump] repugnant to people,” he said. “But, you tell me, the men putting together the Constitution — witnessing this election — wouldn’t they have just said, ‘That’s part of the way we set it up. Good luck?'”

“There’s nothing illegal going on,” he added. “It’s just he’s despicable. And in everybody’s school, you hear, ‘The great thing about America is anybody can grow up to be President.'”

“Oh, jeez,” he continued. “I guess that might be true.”

The clip of the interview was released a day after Letterman said that he “couldn’t care less” about late-night television” and doesn’t miss it. (RELATED: Letterman Blasts Colbert: ‘I Don’t Know Why They Didn’t Give My Show To A Woman’ [VIDEO])
