Just two activists but hoards of reporters showed up for a pro-gun rally in Cleveland’s Public Square near the site of the GOP convention Sunday afternoon.

Computer engineer Steven Thacker, sporting a Bushmaster Predator rifle over his shoulder and handgun on his thigh, told reporters surrounding him, “I feel like one light bulb with a zillion moths.”

Ohio’s open carry law gives anybody free reign to pack heat near the convention, but Thacker said he won’t be exercising his rights once the proceedings start. “This is about a statement. I’m not going to be wandering around like this anywhere else.”

Rich Medlar, who organized the rally for a group called Northeast Ohio Open Carry, said 35 fellow activists promised they would attend but inexplicably “just decided not to show up.”
