TV One’s Roland Martin is going on a diet.

And not just any diet. He is doing Dr. Ian Smith’s “Super Shred” Diet.

The diet promises that the dieter will shed 20 pounds in just four weeks.

The 2014 diet involves eating four meals and three snacks a day. It is meant to be short-term in case you need to drop some poundage for a wedding, cruise or family reunion.

Martin is going on the diet to improve his golf game.

“I’ve done it before,” he told The Mirror. “My goal by the end of 2016 was to get my golf handicap down to a 2-4. It’s now a 7.3. And a part of that was losing 20-30 pounds to improve flexibility. It’s all about golf!”

Smith doesn’t seem like a crackpot. His alma maters include Columbia, and the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine. And there’s this: In 2010, President Obama appointed him to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition.
