I was wrong about pretty much everything during the 2016 election, but the thing I was probably most wrong about was thinking the “Grab ’em by the pussy” tape would cost Trump the election. I didn’t buy any of his excuses for saying that, and I think his critics were (and are) entirely justified in calling him out for it. But it’s pretty weird that now those same people are bashing Mike Pence for not grabbing ’em by the pussy.
It all started on Tuesday, when WaPo’s Ashley Parker published a fairly neutral profile of Mike and Karen Pence. The Pences have been married for over 30 years, and as Parker notes, here’s one of the ways the couple have made it work:
In 2002, Mike Pence told the Hill that he never eats alone with a woman other than his wife and that he won’t attend events featuring alcohol without her by his side, either.
If you admire that, or even if you think it’s not such a bad idea, clearly you’re not a liberal. As Christian Datoc notes, smart folks like lefty blogger Xeni Jardin are asking the obvious question:

That’s right: A married man makes a personal choice to avoid even the appearance of impropriety, and that’s no different than Sharia law. Which is now considered bad, apparently. (I’d ask Xeni how she squares this with the idea that wearing a hijab is somehow feminist and progressive, but I wouldn’t want her to short-circuit.)
A lot of other libs are now spouting the same garbage, that this is somehow a negative for Pence. Here’s now it works:
Bill Clinton gets a blowjob from a White House intern: “It’s just sex!”
Mike Pence tries to avoid even the rumor of such behavior: “What a creep!”
Not that we shouldn’t listen to liberals’ marriage advice, but they all voted for a woman whose husband has humiliated her for decades, and it’s clear to all but the most diehard Hillbots that she’s only stayed with him for political reasons. That was the best the Democrats could do in 2016, and now they’re slamming Mike Pence for being a good husband.
Keep it up, guys. You’re not the ones who are out of touch. The rest of us are.
I can’t wait to elect President Pence. Twice.
