Former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson said Friday he is not prepared to pass judgment on whether or not President Donald Trump is unfit for the office of the presidency.

“Morning Joe” co-host Willie Geist asked Johnson during an interview on MSNBC if he agreed with former National Intelligence Director James Clapper’s assessment that Trump is unfit for office. Johnson was hesitant to take a stance and said he was not in a position to confirm Clapper’s concern.

“Jim Clapper’s a good man and a great American in my opinion … I’m not prepared to make judgments like that. I am obviously concerned about a number of things this president has said and done. As are a number of people. Republicans and Democrats. And I hope that with the new staff, the new chief of staff, we might see some more order in the White House,” Johnson said.

Clapper expressed concern during a Wednesday CNN interview with Don Lemon and said, “I really question his [Trump’s] ability, his fitness to be in this office, and I also am beginning to wonder about his motivation for it. Maybe he is looking for a way out.”

Some criticized Clapper for critiquing Trump’s fitness for office given that Clapper is suspected of having committed perjury while testifying in front of Congress. Clapper claimed the NSA was not conducting mass surveillance on Americans when in reality they were watching millions of citizens.
