There has been a high demand for Confederate flags across the country since the violent protests in Charlottesville, Va., which occurred in early August.

The number of the Confederate flags sold across the entire U.S. has reportedly risen drastically since white supremacist and white nationalist groups converged on Emancipation Park, formerly Lee Park, for a planned “Unite the Right” rally held on Aug. 12. Black Lives Matter, Antifa, and other leftist groups were also present and confrontations between the left and right groups turned violent.

At Chris Ackerman’s Civil War memorabilia shop in Pennsylvania, flag sales have almost quadrupled since the violent protest. The trend has been similar for other retailers who have continued to agree to sell the controversial flag.

“We need to get more flags,” Ackerman told Reuters after placing his first order since the Charlottesville rally. Ackerman owns a Gettysburg Regimental Quartermaster store, and his flags range from $400 handmade flags to $40 flags shipped in from China. (RELATED: Brutal Examples Of Violence That Occurred By Both Sides In Charlottesville [VIDEO])

Ackerman told Reuters that he is now selling at least 40 flags a week at his small shop.
