Jared Leto will star as Hugh Hefner in an upcoming biopic about the Playboy founder’s life.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news early Tuesday morning that the “Dallas Buyers Club” star would be portraying the legendary magazine founder.

They reported in part:

Jared Leto, 45, will soon be donning the iconic silk pajamas and smoking jacket of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, who died Sept. 27 at age 91, for an upcoming biopic from Brett Ratner.

The project is in early development with Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment. The director-producer has been set on helming the movie since 2007, when it was initially set up at Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. Robert Downey Jr. had once been attached to play Hef.

I found out about this news after a coworker sent me The Hollywood Reporter e-mail, and I was instantly jacked. I can’t think of many people who would play a better Hefner. Leto is an incredible actor, and he has great range. He can play a transvestite in “Dallas Buyers Club” and then turn around to play the Joker in “Suicide Squad.”

I can’t wait to watch Leto on screen with dozens of Playboy bunnies in the mansion. It’s going to make for some great entertainment.
