Another employee of The Evergreen State College quit in November, alleging that the school illegally used taxpayer money, according to a Monday report.
Michael Radelich, who worked as a learning resource specialist and a record keeper at the school’s writing center for 14 years, said that the center used financial aid money meant for students to hire non-student employees, reported The College Fix.
The school told Sandra Yannone, director of the writing center and Radelich’s boss, that she must dedicate no less than 90 percent of the center’s budget each year to student salaries, alleged Radelich. But the writing center spent only 27 percent of its budget on that item for the 2016-2017 school year, according to documents Radelich gave to The College Fix.
“I cannot any longer be a part of an office that blatantly disregards the financial policies of the college,” Radelich wrote in his resignation letter, obtained by The College Fix. “[Yannone]’s blatant inattention to the proper spending of funds, her careless mishandling of funds, and her ignoring of directives from the college’s financial managers led to years and years of stressful conversations between us.”
“[Yannone] was terrible with money and breaking the law by hiring tons of part-time people and not students,” the former employee added.
Radelich said he inquired about the spending several times during his tenure at the school, acknowledging it a final time in his resignation letter. But the campus climate also caused him to resign from Evergreen.
“Evergreen is run on the PC Bible, and it is a Bible that keeps being rewritten all the time,” said Radelich.
The former writing center worker is far from the only Evergreen employee to have left in the months following the May campus protests. Biology professors Bret Weinstein, a central target of the protests, and his wife, Heather Heying, received a $500,000 settlement from the school in a settlement after alleging that Evergreen did not defend employees from “hostility based on race, as well as threats of physical violence.”
The school’s police chief also resigned, stating that campus officials forbade the police force from using rifles. (RELATED: Evergreen State Police Chief Resigns: ‘We Should Have Rifles’)
