It’s the end of the December, and it’s time for my television show of the year.

This was a tough decision for me. I don’t take it lightly at all, and at the end of the day “The Punisher” is taking home the hardware. It was a close call between “The Punisher,” the final season of “Longmire,” the fourth season of “Silicon Valley,” the seventh season of “Game of Thrones,” and “The Ranch.”

At the end of the day I just couldn’t put any of those shows’ past seasons ahead of “The Punisher.”

Netflix hit a massive home run with this Jon Bernthal-led show. Bernthal isn’t just intimidating as The Punisher. He’s downright terrifying. Every second he was on screen killing people was worth watching. The show literally opens up with him blowing a cartel boss’ head apart as a hooker was performing oral sex on the criminal. It didn’t slow down from there. So many shows shy away from violence these days, but “The Punisher” embraced everything that fans love. It gave us all the shooting, stabbing, blood and guts we could handle.

Then it gave us more.

However, it’s important to note that there wasn’t violence just for the sake of violence. Every bullet shot played a role. That’s a sign of great writing.

It wasn’t just Bernthal. Amber Rose Revah as Agent Madani, Ben Barnes as Billy Russo and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as David Lieberman all delivered stellar performances. This show is without a doubt worth checking out, and season two can’t get here fast enough.
