Republican strategist Steve Schmidt appeared on MSNBC Thursday to compare the Trump White House to “monkeys hurling excrement at each other.”

Steve Schmidt has long been a Republican anti-Trump voice on MSNBC, previously comparing the Russian meddling in the election to D-Day, saying, “If you stand in the American cemetery in Normandy, France, the graves are not marked by Republicans and Democrats, they are marked by American Patriots. We’re all in this together. We’re one people, one country, and when you see Trump’s further erosion of trust, trust and institutions, our very system, the cynicism he is injecting into it.
