Winter Storm Inga is dumping snow, sleet and ice throughout the Northeast and South Tuesday and Wednesday, creating icy conditions and hampering travel through a significant portion of the U.S., according to the National Weather Service.
While parts of Kentucky have already received nine inches of snow, most areas can expect just enough to cover and close roads in the South. Snowfall in the Northeast is expected to be no worse than normal, anywhere from two to six inches in most areas.

Republican Gov. Kay Ivey of Alabama declared a state of emergency in Alabama Monday in preparation for the storm.

“There are enough uncertainties in the forecast right now that the potential exists that this winter storm could be debilitating to the state for a couple of days due to icy conditions,” Director Alabama Emergency Management Agency Brian Hastings said according to CNN.
Around 40 million Americans are under a wind chill warning from Montana to Texas and in the Northeast, where temperatures could feel as low as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
