Bud Light has confirmed it will follow through on a bet it made with Philadelphia Eagles player Lane Johnson back in August.

Bud Light tweeted in August, “.@LaneJohnson65 Let’s make a bet. Win it all and the party is on us. Deal?”

Obviously, this was an easy decision for Johnson, who took up Bud Light on the offer.

CBS Philadelphia reached out to Bud Light to make sure the deal was still on, and Bud Light responded with following statement:

Bud Light has not forgotten about our commitment to Lane Johnson, the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia. We will be sharing plans soon, but in the interest of not jinxing the team ahead of their upcoming games, we are not going to unveil any plans at this time. We wish the Eagles the best of luck this weekend.

I’m not betting a dime on the Eagles winning the game, and will be very surprised if they beat the Patriots. Vegas has the Patriots as extremely heavy favorites.

However, this is a precedent we should all be getting behind. Beer companies throwing free parties for entire cities is what America is all about. It’s what separates us from the savages in ISIS. We embrace the booze and chaos with open arms because that’s what it means to have freedom.

Having said that, I do understand how this could quickly go downhill for just about anybody involved. I’ve been in some wild situations when the alcohol wasn’t free, and we were forking over our own small fortunes to cover bar tabs. Imagine how much worse it would be if we were out there playing with house money. Seems like an absolute disaster waiting to happen.

Then again, what is life without a little risk? I’m not banking on Bud Light needing to follow through with this bet, but Philly might cease to exist if they do.
