CNN political analyst Brian Karem whined on Thursday that the Nunes memo is a “tipping point for our democracy,” and likened President Donald Trump to a “mafia boss.”

The memo, which is set to be released on Friday, reportedly details FISA surveillance abuses by the FBI, but Karem is more worried that releasing it could destroy our democracy.

“This is a tipping point for our democracy. Are we going to be a democracy after today or is this going to be demagoguery or despotism?” he exclaimed.

Karem also accused the Trump administration of being hypocritical by arguing that releasing the memo would be transparent. He accused the administration of hiding itself from the press.

“He talks about transparency and this is an administration that hasn’t had a solo press conference in a year, they haven’t had a press briefing in the last week and a half, they don’t talk to the press, we have to go on the South Lawn to try and get in touch with the president and shout questions at him–that’s disingenuous,” Karem whined.

“He doesn’t care,” Karem concluded. “This is a mafia boss gone mad.”
