New England Patriots superstar tight end Rob Growkowski is going from the football field to the big screen.

While Gronk is still expected to play in 2018, the tight end will have a role in the new movie ‘Boss Level.’

The movie stars Mel Gibson, Frank Grillo, and Naomi Watts and is directed by Joe Carnahan. Carnahan has also directed ‘The Gray’ and ‘The Blacklist.’

According to IMBD, the movie is about “a retired special forces officer [who] is trapped in a never ending time loop on the day of his death.” The movie has also been listed as an action, science fiction, thriller.

Gronk’s role in the movie has yet to be announced.

Gronkowski’s acting career began in 2015, when he played himself in the Entourage movie.

Rob Gronkowski is the premiere tight end in the NFL and is arguably the best player at the position ever. He has accumulated 76 touchdown catches and over 7,000 receiving yards. Gronk has also been a part of the Patriots two most recent Super Bowl victories. There has been no indication that his role in this movie will correspond with the end of his football career although there was some speculation during the 2018 offseason that he might retire.

Gronk’s larger-than-life personality seems to mimic former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq’s acting career began during his career. He had roles in Scary Movie 4, Grown Ups 2, and The Surfs 2.

The two of them were recently together at ‘Shaq’s Fun House‘ – a carnival themed rave hosted by the former Lakers’ big man. Gronk, in typical fashion, took his shirt off and got on Shaq’s shoulders.
