Colorado authorities arrested a woman Tuesday night for stabbing a police officer and then subsequently taking his cop car for a drive.

Twenty-one year-old Shayanne Maestas allegedly stabbed a Rocky Ford police officer as he was conducting home safety check Tuesday afternoon, reports KKTV.

Maestas reportedly came out of the house while the officer was interviewing the home owner and stabbed the cop in the neck, according to the news release. After, Maestas allegedly hopped into the officer’s car and drove 30 miles from the scene of the stabbing.

Various law enforcement officers launched a manhunt to track down Maestas.

“We have multiple agencies from south and eastern Colorado helping us clear into New Mexico — we do have New Mexico State Police troopers also assisting, covering most of the main roadways and just looking out,” said Scott Copley with Colorado State Patrol.

Colorado State Patrol officers eventually found her crashed on the side of the highway, according to News 11 sources. The officer in question is in stable condition, according to the police chief and is expected to make a full recovery.
