Roger Stone Demands Correction To House Intel Report

Republican political operator Roger Stone is demanding a correction to the House Intelligence Committee’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, a letter from his attorney provided to The Daily Caller reveals.

Stone’s attorney, Grant Smith, cited page 75 of the house intelligence committee report released Friday which incorrectly cites a tweet from Stone during the 2016 presidential campaign. The report cited the tweet as “Trust me, it will soon Podesta’s time in the barrel. #CrookedHillary.”

Smith’s letter notes that the report omitted the word “the” before “Podesta’s.”

Stone’s tweet has long been cited as alleged evidence that he not only had advance knowledge of Wikileaks’ decision to release Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s email, but also possible collusion with the Russian government.

“By incorrectly quoting Mr. Stone’s Tweet, the Committee’s Report ascribes a meaning never intended by Mr. Stone, and in fact imparts a meaning which is specifically denied,” Smith said.

Stone has maintained that his Podesta tweet is in reference to John and Tony Podesta’s lobbying operation.

“What Mr. Stone did know prior to his Tweet, and what he testified to under oath in front of the Committee, was that the Podesta brothers (John and Tony) had long term and extensive business interests in Ukraine and with Russian banking and oil,” Smith continued. “This knowledge came to be known by Mr. Stone through published news reports and the publicly released Panama Papers, all of which predated Mr. Stone’s Tweet.”
