MSNBC analyst and Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson compared President Donald Trump’s North Korean peace efforts with former president Ronald Reagan.

WATCH:

During a Tuesday morning appearance, Robinson praised Trump for sitting down with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and called it very “significant.” Robinson compared Trump’s press conference after his meeting with Kim Jong Un to Reagan’s “tear down this wall” moment during the Cold War. “In the way that Ronald Reagan could distill those many, many years of study and thought into ‘tear down this wall, Mr. Gorbachev,’ Donald Trump’s version of that may well be those ‘beachfront condos,'” Robinson said. “It may well be the way he thinks of a future for North Korea.”

Robinson’s “beachfront condos” remark was referring to a joke made by Trump about the real estate potential of the beaches that North Korea currently uses to fire cannons.

Robinson also said that the meeting clearly “changes things” and that he is hopeful it will lessen tensions between the two countries and the world.
