Baseball is often called America’s favorite past time, and a lot of us can remember hot summer days playing catch with our dads in our backyards. I’m sure many of you can recall a moment like this in your early lives. I’m also quite sure most of you haven’t had a moment like Texas Rangers rookie Jose Trevino had on Sunday.

The backup catcher, who just celebrated the birth of his first son, hit a walk-off two run single with his newborn son in attendance.

As if the moment wasn’t heartwarming enough, Trevino dedicated the hit to his late father, who passed away in 2014. The rookie, who was called up only days before the game, said of his dad, “I knew he was going to help me too, I can’t wait to tell him about it.”

The walk-off capped off a wild inning that saw the Rangers beat the Rockies 12-11, and concluded what was probably the best week of Trevino’s life.
