CNN host Brooke Baldwin responded to the White House’s Angel Families event on Friday, cutting directly from footage of parents who lost children to illegal immigrants to a question of her own. She said, “Obviously, our hearts go out to them. I’m not sure why attacks on the media are necessary here.”
President Donald Trump chose to host the event amid furor over the U.S.-Mexico border and the children who had either arrived unaccompanied or had been separated from their parents while they were processed by law enforcement. Trump said the Angel Families were permanently separated from their children and were ignored by the media.
We are gathered today to hear directly from the AMERICAN VICTIMS of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. These are the American Citizens permanently separated from their loved ones b/c they were killed by criminal illegal aliens. These are the families the media ignores…https://t.co/ZjXESYAcjY

Following the event, the president again tweeted his resolve to make the border stronger and Americans safer, saying, “we will not rest until our border is secure.”
Our first duty, and our highest loyalty, is to the citizens of the United States. We will not rest until our border is secure, our citizens are safe, and we finally end the immigration crisis once and for all. pic.twitter.com/7YfZ9kjB23
