The Georgia Republican state lawmaker who screamed the n-word and showed his naked backside to fight terrorism on Sacha Baron Cohen’s show “Who Is America?” will resign, said Georgia’s House speaker on Tuesday night.

State House Speaker David Ralston, a Republican, announced the resignation of state Rep. Jason Spencer, who will step down at the end of July, reported The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Spencer issued an apology for his behavior in the episode and at first said that he would not resign. (RELATED: Georgia State Rep. Screams N-Word, Shows Bare Butt To Fight Terrorism On Baron Cohen’s Newest Episode)

“Sacha Baron Cohen and his associates took advantage of my paralyzing fear that my family would be attacked,” he said.

After pressure from other Georgia Republicans, Spencer agreed to step down.

Pretending to be an Israeli anti-terror expert named Erran Morad, Cohen recorded himself teaching Spencer fake terrorist-fighting techniques for his series on the channel Showtime. (RELATED: Sacha Baron Cohen Tries And Fails To Dupe Matt Gaetz On His Crazy New Show)

Spencer lost his primary in May but would have remained in office as a lame duck until January, when he would have reached eight years of service and qualified for lifetime taxpayer-subsidized health insurance, reported The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
