House Democrat Ruben Gallego issued a direct threat to U.S. government officials who are working to help deport illegal immigrants on Twitter Wednesday night.
Rep. Gallego tweeted, “If you are a US government official and you are deporting Americans be warned. When the worm turns you will not be safe because you were just following orders. You do not have to take part in illegal acts ordered by this President’s administration,” from his personal twitter account.

Gallego did not make it clear exactly what type of ramifications these Immigration Customs Enforcement officials would face.
His tweet was a quote tweet of MSNBC’s Chris Hayes sharing an article from the Washington Post. The Post’s article was about United States citizens at the southern border being denied passport renewals because the government believes their birth certificates are forged. “I’m demanding some very basic information about the operations of an agency that increasingly appears to be veering of out of control,” the congressman said back in November, in a letter sent to the head of the Phoenix Field Office Enrique Lucero.
