The first lady traveled afterward to Greater Accra Regional Hospital to visit with families and new mothers. Melania gave out teddy bears and Be-Best-themed blankets donated by the White House to the mothers and children.

During one particularly touching moment, Melania’s motherly instincts kicked in and she picked up a chubby-cheeked baby, rocking the cooing child. Melania made faces at the small baby and interacted with him to the delight of those watching.

According to the White House pool report, Melania exclaimed “Healthy boy” when a newborn was weighed in front of her. The White House also donated a bundle of sacks for the children to be weighed in. Melania was cheered by hospital staff as she walked through the halls to different wards.
