MSNBC anchor Katy Tur chided a UCLA College Republican for using “talking points” during a Monday interview on campus.

WATCH:

Tur interviewed Ben Sachrison, the president of Bruin Republicans, and Nasir Ahmed, the policy director for Bruin Democrats, about current political events. The interview hit the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the booming economy, and eventually, health care.

“What about health care?” Tur asked.

“In terms of health care, Republicans have always champion the right to have freedom of choice and let the market play a role,” Sachrison said. “We saw under the Affordable Care Act that premiums went up, premiums have continued to rise. We’ve also seen that choice has gone down.”

Tur immediately accused Sachrison of relying on “talking points” and insisted she wasn’t trying to be “disrespectful.”

“Hold — you have, you have a set of talking points down, and I don’t mean to be disrespectful, I hope that doesn’t sound that way, but when kids talk to you and they come into the Republican Party into your offices here … what are they saying to you?” Tur pressed.

“We just want to have a conversation first and foremost,” Sachrison replied. “We want to be challenged, we want to grow.”

Earlier in the segment, Tur demanded to know if female Republicans in Sachrison’s club might be less supportive of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh than male members. She did not press Ahmed about his club’s views in a similar fashion.
