Co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Mika Brzezinski said members of the media will continue to hold a grudge against President Donald Trump for calling them the enemy of the people.

“This president has been calling the press the enemy of the people, and I can tell you we’re not going to let this go,” Brzezinski said Thursday on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” (RELATED: Mika Brzezinski Claims She Feels ‘Terrible’ For Trump Supporters Who Are ‘Pawns’ Of The President)

She was responding to Colbert’s question about the disappearance of Saudi Arabian journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and why it will have a “lasting impact.”

“We’re not going to let this go, The Washington Post is not going to let this go. The New York Times is not going to let this go. And also, in terms of how we conduct our foreign policy, we can’t be a joke. We can’t be siding with the Saudis when they murder a Washington Post columnist. That can’t be our reality and at some point, this has to end. One way or another.”

Brzezinski also blamed Trump for the chaos of Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing earlier in the interview and said it’s exactly what he wanted.

“These past two news cycles, Donald Trump has gotten really good at being a really bad president. If you look at what happened with the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, that was exactly what he wanted,” Brzezinski said.

WATCH:

” … [He] had both sides fighting each other and got exactly what he wanted, which was someone who was unfit for the highest court in the land — elevated to the highest court in the land. And now, he is sowing doubt in our foreign policy. He’s making us look like a joke around the world. Every time he opens his mouth, we go down a peg internationally. We’re going to pay for that for years to come.”

Brzezinski’s co-host Joe Scarborough claimed voters of all stripes agree the president must be held in check and then listed moments he believed to be egregious.

“Whether you’re a Republican, whether you’re a Democrat, whether you’re an independent, you have to agree that Donald Trump needs to be checked,” he said.

“If Charlottesville didn’t do it, if the president wanting to ban 1.5 billion people because of the god they pray to didn’t do it … if calling Mexicans rapists, if doing all of these things — running not just a racist campaign but a race-fueled presidency, if that doesn’t get you out to the polls, nothing will.”
