U.S. Olympic snowboarder Shaun White upset a lot of people over the past weekend after he dressed up as a movie character from 10 years ago.

The three-time Olympic gold medalist dressed up as Simple Jack, a character with mental disabilities from the comedy “Tropic Thunder,” for Halloween festivities.

Even when the movie came out in 2008, several advocacy groups slammed Ben Stiller for his portrayal of Simple Jack.

The photo of White’s costume, posted Saturday, prompted dozens of users to slam him for his apparent ignorance.

“That ‘fictional’ character is making fun of disabled people and it’s not ok. I am not the only one pissed about this,” one commenter wrote in part.

“As a long time FAN and someone who has a sibling whose disabled, this is extremely disappointing and hurtful,” another wrote.

White’s timeline is being lit up by scores of comments similar to these.

Even the Special Olympics got involved.

“We are truly disappointed that Shaun White, an acclaimed Olympian, would choose this costume which is so offensive and causes so much pain,” the organization told TMZ. “Disability is not a joke nor should it be a punchline. We hope that Shaun White and others learn that this just continues stigma, stereotypes and discrimination.”

So far, Shaun White has not yet responded to the outcry.
