Charles Dion McDowell, the man who went viral for his absurd mugshot and was subsequently dubbed “Neck Guy,” is making a career out of his 15 minutes of fame.

In case you aren’t aware of Neck Guy, he’s the absolute unit in these mugshots, arrested for possession of cocaine, meth and marijuana with intent to distribute:

Obviously, McDowell has a little trouble with the law, but according to a new report, he’s channeling his issues inside the ring.

That’s right … the neck guy is about to training to become an MMA fighter.

Per The Pensacola News Journal:

Charles Dion McDowell, who became known as the “Neck Guy” after two of his mugshots went viral online over the last month, is in conversation to possibly compete at an upcoming Island Fights boxing or mixed martial arts event according to Island Fights CEO Dean Toole.

McDowell, who’s never fought competitively and thus would be in an amateur bout, has an offer from Toole to train at the organization’s Pensacola facilities for a potential bout in February or April 2019.

“He hasn’t made some of the best choices in life in his past so maybe something like this will be a good step in the right direction towards something positive,” Island Fights CEO Dean Toole told the Pensacola News Journal.

McDowell confirmed the news separately on Facebook.

“For all you people that didn’t know, I’ve been training MMA and will be making my Debut real soon!” he wrote.

He may not be the most savory character on the planet, but he’s already an internet sensation and apparently, he’s planning on cashing in on the whole situation.

America loves a good redemption story, and this may not be the contemporary Rocky story we want. But it may be the one we need.
