Houston Rockets star James Harden pulled off a great move for children in the area this Christmas season.

The electric guard hooked up 70 kids with massive shopping sprees at a Target. TMZ reported the following details Wednesday:

The NBA superstar and his charity foundation partnered with a Target in Pearland, Texas Monday and hooked up 70 Houston area kids and their families with gift cards … and shut down the store for a personal shopping spree!

We’re told each card had a couple hundred bucks on it, and the best part … the kids had no idea they were in for this treat.

I’ve said it many times before, and I’ll say it again. If we’re going to criticize athletes when they do dumb stuff, then we have to be willing to shine an even bigger light on players setting a great example.

Harden setting up 70 kids in the Houston area with a shopping spree during the Christmas season is an outstanding move from the NBA star. (RELATED: James Harden’s Disrespect Against The Clippers Was Criminal)

Sure, he has made more than enough money to last him forever, and I’m not even sure this money came out of his pocket.

That’s not the point. We should all try to do something during the holiday season for those less fortunate than ourselves, and that’s exactly what Harden did here.

He gave those young children a memory they will likely never forget. That’s simply awesome.
