The headliner for Coachella 2019 has been announced, leaving a few questions in everybody’s mind.

The three main headline acts will be Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala. Which, of course, begs the question, who the heck is a Tame Imapala? (RELATED: Kanye West Cancels Coachella Appearance For This Strange Reason)

Among other things, like, isn’t Coachella supposed to be a festival for cool, hipster, undiscovered artists? Then why in the name of hemp jeans and kombucha is Ariana Grande headlining it? You know, the girl who just won Billboard’s Album Of The Year?

It turns out, Ariana Grande, who had quite the 2018 last year, is performing in the name of a cause close to her heart.

TMZ reports that the decision to make Ariana Grande the headliner stems from the festival’s concern for female empowerment. As I mentioned above, Ariana Grande had a year last year. Her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, died of an overdose and she called off her engagement to Pete Davidson weeks later. He later threatened to kill himself but refused to see her when she rushed to be at his side.

She also dealt with a ton of hate mail and opinions from the peanut gallery during and after her breakups, and still somehow managed to produce three top 20 songs from her 2018 album “Sweetener.” All in 2018.

“Ariana is inspirational, and millions of people, particularly women, will connect with her,” a source told TMZ, explaining the decision.

Only three other women have headlined for Coachella: Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Icelandic singer Bjork. So Grande’s in good company, and we’re sure she’ll knock it out of the park.
