Matthew McConaughey’s new movie “Serenity” absolutely bombed at the box office in its opening weekend.

The Hollywood Reporter reported the following on the numbers:

Opening in eighth place, Serenity, an indie neo-noir thriller starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway, bombed with an estimated $4.8 million from 2,561 cinemas. It is the worst opening of Hathaway’s career, and one of the worst in recent memory for McConaughey.

Serenity, directed by Steven Knight, was skewered by critics and earned a terrible D+ CinemaScore from audiences.

I’m shocked it even made this much. The fact movie theaters actually accepted cash from people to see this movie should be a crime. The FBI should honestly start investigating what the hell happened to make this movie so bad. (RELATED: Matthew McConaughey’s New Movie Looks Like A Real Mind-Bender. Watch The Trippy Trailer)

As you all know, I had very high hopes for “Serenity.” I saw the trailer, and thought it looked like one of the coolest movies ever made.

Well, I was very wrong. Not only was it not good, “Serenity” was absolute trash. It took an all-star cast that featured McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Diane Lane and Jason Clarke, and threw a bunch of gasoline on them as a match was lit.

It was a disgrace to cinema.

Our money should be refunded and the people responsible for this monstrosity of a movie should be banned from ruining our lives ever again.

I don’t mean people in the cast. I mean the idiots who signed off and cut the checks. Those people shouldn’t be allowed to work in entertainment ever again.

Good riddance.
