The Kansas City Chiefs won’t be letting quarterback Patrick Mahomes play in any basketball games anytime soon.

The superstar young gunslinger went viral after a video appeared online of him shredding guys in a pickup game. There’s no question he can play ball, but the Chiefs have officially put an end to that. (RELATED: Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Dominates During Basketball Game)

“As soon as I saw it, it probably took me about 2 seconds to call his agent and tell him that was a big no-no … The Kingdom can rest assure that we have that under control: no more basketball for Pat,” general manager Brett Veach said during a Thursday radio appearance on WHB (810 AM), according to The Kansas City Star.

This is a pretty wise decision from Veach and the Chiefs organization.

The absolute last thing they need or want is for Mahomes to tear his ACL or blow out his knee in a friendly game of basketball.

He’s one of the best players in the league. I’m surprised the Chiefs just don’t put him in bubble wrap at all times when he’s not on the football field.

You have got to protect that man at all costs.

Well, the casual fans might be upset because we won’t get more awesome videos, but I can promise you the Chiefs management will be happy knowing Mahomes days balling out on the court are behind him.
