Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim reportedly killed a man in a tragic car accident.

According to Syracuse.com, the legendary coach hit a man sometime around midnight Wednesday night when the unnamed victim got out of his car after an unrelated crash in Syracuse. The now-deceased man was in his 30s, and Boeheim didn’t have any alcohol in his system at the time of the accident.

Syracuse had beaten Louisville earlier in the night. According to the same report, it’s unclear if icy road conditions following the game played a role in the tragic death. (RELATED: Kentucky, Syracuse, North Carolina, Tennessee And Wisconsin Lead College Basketball In Attendance)

This is just a horrific situation all the way around. It’s absolutely terrifying. While we don’t know all the details right now, I feel it’s a good time to remind people getting out of your car in high traffic areas is almost always a bad idea.

It’s absolutely not worth the risk. I’m also glad to see Boeheim passed his alcohol test. This situation would be substantially worse if the legendary coach killed somebody while drunk. I’m glad to see that’s not the case.
