Whoopi Goldberg finally explained her extended absence from “The View” when she revealed that she has been battling a severe case of pneumonia.

It happened Friday during the show after host Joy Behar said that instead of promising viewers Goldberg was “getting better” and would be back on the show soon, they could hear straight from Whoopi herself about what led to her absence from the show for over a month(RELATED: Joy Behar: Female Trump Voters Don’t Know The Difference Between A Predator And A Protector)

“I am OK. I’m not dead,” Goldberg explained in a video. “Yes, I came very, very close to leaving the Earth. Good news, I didn’t. Thank you for all of your good wishes.”  (RELATED: Meghan McCain Blasts Trump At John McCain’s Funeral)

She also explained that she ended up getting pneumonia in both lungs and she was “septic,” which meant “there was fluid” and “all kinds of stuff going on.”

Goldberg continued, “Even people who are not like huge fans of mine have actually said nice things about me. We all know that’s going to change when I get back, but for right now, it’s brilliant!”

The outspoken host called the experience “interesting” and promised to tell them all about it when she gets back to the show. However, she made no mention about when that would be happening.

“Ladies, I cannot wait to see you all, and I’ll tell you all about it when we’re all at the table,” Goldberg added.”See you soon.”
