The Wisconsin Badgers are writing a massive check to Western Michigan for a football game down the road.

According to Brett McMurphy Tuesday, my Badgers are paying the Broncos a stunning $1.5 million to play at Camp Randall in 2026.

That’s right. My squad is writing a check for a cool $1.5 million for the non-conference home game. That is an incredible about of money to play anybody. (RELATED: Graham Mertz Dominates Wisconsin Scrimmage, Leads Two Touchdown Drives)

For those who might have forgotten, my boys took it to WMU back in 2017 in the Cotton Bowl. That was back when people thought the Broncos were national title contenders and P.J. Fleck, who has since left for Minnesota, was running the show.

The reality of the situation here is that Wisconsin will likely murder the Broncos at home, and we’re apparently paying a premium for that opportunity. (RELATED: Should Graham Mertz Start At Quarterback For The Wisconsin Badgers In 2019?)

It just seems like so much money. We couldn’t have found somebody else at a cheaper rate? Nobody would show up for an even million dollars?

I find that very hard to believe.

We’re going to look like absolute clowns if we lose this game. We’re going to look like absolute morons if we pay somebody $1.5 million to beat us, and don’t think that doesn’t happen in sports.

Look no further than Appalachian State and Michigan if you need proof of that fact. This game is seven years away and I’m already focused on scheming and doing whatever is necessary to win.

It’s truly no days off when you’re this committed to your craft.
