Taylor Swift opened up about feeling low and her quest to find happiness in an interview following the release of her new single, “Me!”

The pop singer admitted to occasionally taking time off because she feels “really low or really bad” in her interview with the Zach Sang Show published Monday about her pursuit to find happiness.

“I think when we talk about being happy or loving yourself those are all things that we feel sometimes and maybe this song is a glimpse of that moment when we do feel like that,” Swift said while referencing her new single. “When we’re having the best day, the sun is shining, it’s going to be an okay day, everything’s going to be good, I’m alright with myself.”

“There have been times where I needed to take years off because I just felt exhausted, or I felt like, really low or really bad,” she said. (RELATED: Taylor Swift Surprises Fans With Appearance At Commissioned Mural)

Swift said it wasn’t hard picking “Me!” to be the first single for the new album. The song feels like a celebration for Swift.

“And, I just want that right now for people. I want that for me when I perform it. I want to feel good and feel positive and feel hopeful and I feel like a song is like a mantra. If you get a song stuck in your head, that’s the message you’re telling yourself whether it’s intentional or not, or conscious or not,” Swift said.

In the past, Swift has had multiple feuds with celebrities including the infamous fight with Kanye West over a lyric referencing Swift in his 2016 hit “Famous.” Kim Kardashian called Swift a snake and Swift ended up using the feud for imagery in her album “Reputation.”
