Texas and Florida are locked in for a home-and-home football series.

The Gators announced Friday they’ll host the Longhorns in 2030 and then visit Austin in 2031.

I love this. I absolutely love the fact more and more Power Five teams are scheduling non-conference games. These games may be further than a decade away, but I’m juiced.

Yes, I love college football and I love sports, and I hope you all are as juiced as I am right now. There’s nothing better in college football than two traditional powerhouses squaring up on the gridiron. It’s what makes the sport so great.

It’s also nice to see Florida going out of its way to schedule some great games, unlike their fellow SEC member Tennessee.

The Volunteers are out here scheduling Troy, and the Gators are preparing for battle with the Longhorns. You tell me which one is more impressive. (RELATED: Tennessee Schedules 2020 Football Game Against Troy)

Let’s hope this trend of major non-conference games continues. There’s nothing that gets the blood flowing like two great teams playing some football on a great Saturday afternoon.

Props to both of these schools for getting the job done.
