President Donald Trump criticized Democrats for claiming the country is in a “constitutional crisis” Sunday night, saying the real crisis is Democrats refusing to work with him on issues like the border.

Trump weighed in on the recent comments of many Democrats, such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler in saying the United States is in a “constitutional crisis.”

“There can be no higher stakes than this attempt to abrogate all power to the executive branch away from Congress and, more importantly, the American people,” Nadler told reporters Wednesday. “We talked for a long time about approaching a constitutional crisis — we’re now in it. We are now in a constitutional crisis.”

The comments come as Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Barr in contempt of Congress on Wednesday. (RELATED: Pelosi Joins Nadler In Saying Country Is In ‘Constitutional Crisis’)

Before the vote, The White House said the president would use executive privilege to prevent Democratic lawmakers from getting the materials they have requested.

Trump also said the Democratic party has gone “nuts,” mentioning special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, which found no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The president also said Democrats have been “working overtime” to hurt him and the Republican party by issuing subpoenas to those close to him and his campaign.

Pelosi also said President Donald Trump is “goading” Democrats to impeach him from office because he thinks it will help him fire up his base during a Tuesday interview.

Nadler sent document requests to 81 groups, people and organizations, searching for constitutional abuses and corruption by Trump. Nadler said in March the requests for documents are to “begin investigations, to present the case to the American people about obstruction of justice, about corruption and abuse of power,” despite Mueller’s investigation.

Democrats and cable news pundits have said the Mueller report is a cover-up.
