Details have finally emerged revealing where Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle gave birth to her and Prince Harry’s first child, and it wasn’t a home birth, despite earlier reports.

The birth certificate of Archie Harrison, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s child, filed Friday shows that the newest member of the royal family was born at the private Portland Hospital in London, per Page Six. The document contradicts several earlier reports that alleged the former “Suits” actress planned to have a home birth for her first child. That would have meant giving birth at the couple’s new home Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle only weeks after the two finally moved.

Archie was born on May 6th and weighed in at 7 lbs and 3 oz. (RELATED: Duchess Meghan Markle Reportedly Plans To Raise Royal Baby Gender Neutral)

Markle’s name on the certificate is listed as Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.

“Huge congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of baby Archie,” a spokesperson for The Portland Hospital shared with People magazine. “For reasons of patient confidentiality, we are unable to provide any comment or information.”

The Duchess and her husband made it clear weeks before he was born that details surrounding his birth would be kept private and that she had no plans to then pose on the steps at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s hospital with her child the same as Kate Middleton and Prince William did with all three of their children.

Other reports stated that Markle planned to have a natural birth which involved frequent acupuncture sessions and reportedly hiring a doula.

As previously reported, other sources close to the couple shared that the duchess has been learning a technique called hypnobirthing ahead of the couple’s arrival of their first child.

“Meg wants a natural birth if she can have one,” an insider shared. “Her mother is very into anything that is holistic and natural, and having been brought up with yoga and mindfulness, it’s all very much part of Meghan’s birth plan.”
