New England Patriots tight end Benjamin Watson ripped Alyssa Milano Sunday after the actress claimed that the right to an abortion benefits “women of color.”

“This will affect the communities of color more than anything,” Milano told CNN’s Chris Cuomo earlier this week. “For the women of color, for the women that are marginalized… these bills are going to be catastrophic.”

Watson did not take kindly to Milano’s remarks, calling it an example of “ignorance, racism or some combination of both.”

“To claim that giving MORE children of color the right to be born will negatively affect ‘women of color’ reveals IGNORANCE, RACISM or some combination of both,” Watson said. “Our children and families are capable of greatness and lies like this harm our future. Don’t patronize us.”

The abortion debate has escalated in recent months, with several states passing laws significantly restricting or outright banning abortion. Last week, Alabama passed the most restrictive law in the nation, banning abortion even in cases of rape or incest, while allowing an exception for the life of the mother. A father of seven, Watson has been outspoken about his pro-life beliefs, speaking at the annual March for Life in 2017. Watson has also previously said that he believes that Planned Parenthood was created to “exterminate blacks.”

Data from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 60% of legal abortions in the state of Alabama were obtained by black women in 2015.
