Wisconsin football coach Paul Chryst briefly discussed Graham Mertz on Friday during Big 10 media days.

The freshman star has taken the college football world by storm, and everybody is wondering whether or not he’ll start from day one. The Badgers coach didn’t open up about that, but did praise Mertz when discussing it today. (RELATED: Wisconsin 2019 Football Expectations: Can The Badgers Get 10 Or More Wins?)

“There’s a lot of buzz and talk about him, and I think he’s handled it well, and I think the team has handled it well. He’s the same person. He’s one that’s grounded, unbelievable worker and I think is going through a lot,” Chryst told the media about the young phenom, according to Jason Galloway.

As I’m sure you can all tell, the hype around Graham Mertz has pretty much hit deafening levels, but it sounds like he’s handling it incredibly well.

Outside of Russell Wilson, there’s not a single player in program history who has ever had this kind of hype before even taking a single snap.

Everybody is talking about him.

We won’t know who will start under center between him and Jack Coan until closer to the opener against South Florida.

Hell, we might not know until one of them runs out for the first snap, and that will only do more to fuel the Mertz talk.

We’re 42 days out, and I can’t wait. It’s going to be epic watching the Badgers play this season. Get onboard right now, or get the hell out of our way.
