Former Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham has reportedly settled in nicely with the New England Patriots.

The athletic quarterback was a fourth round pick of the Patriots in the last draft, and some think he might be the heir apparent for whenever Tom Brady decides to hang it up. So far, it sounds like he’s really impressed everybody in camp. (RELATED: New England Patriots Draft Quarterback Jarrett Stidham)

Masslive.com reported the following Tuesday:

Through 10 practices, Stidham’s completion percentage in those periods is 10 points higher than Brady’s: 68 percent to 58. Any conversation about quarterback succession is entirely premature.

But calling Stidham one of the early stars of New England’s training camp is almost overdue. Thursday’s preseason opener will mark two weeks since the Patriots first hit the field, and perhaps no one has shown more growth than Stidham.

I just want to go on record and remind everybody that was I was high on Stidham before the Patriots even drafted him.

Once they did, I really thought it was the best possible situation for him. There’s no pressure to play, he can learn from the best quarterback in the game and then can get some reps perhaps in garbage time.

As a young passer in the NFL, there’s literally no better situation.

At Auburn, Stidham really lit it up at times. He’s got a great arm, he’s relatively mobile and he’s got a great gamer attitude that you want to see in a leader.

I understand that it’s only training camp, but Stidham could be in prime shape to start if he develops well over the next couple years under Brady’s leadership.

Given what he did at Auburn and what it sounds like he’s doing right now, Patriots fans should be very happy to have Stidham on the roster.
