Obama to Republicans: Let’s try to work together

It wasn’t exactly sweetness and light when President Obama visited today with House Republicans — though each side pledged to work with the other as much as possible.

Obama told Republicans he welcomes disagreement and debate, but also knocked them for opposing the stimulus bill on “disappointing” party-line votes and what he called their mis-information on his health care proposals.

“The fact of the matter is, many of you, if you voted with the administration on something, are politically vulnerable with your own base, with your own party,” Obama says. “You’ve been telling your constituents … this guy’s doing all kinds of crazy stuff that’s going to destroy America.”
